Sonoma County, California

Sonoma County is one of the premier wine regions in California. The "warm days, cool nights" of this region are ideal for grape growing; ocean breezes and fog allow the mist to linger and cool the warm valley. This allows the grapes a longer growing time on the vine resulting in more sugar, fruit flavor and color in the grape.

There are over 55,000 acres of vines planted in Sonoma County with approximately 130,000 tons of grapes being produced.

Sonoma's varietals are a who's who of European fine wine: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Zinfandel. Sonoma's fruit-filled, elegant "Zins" are developing their own cult following. All in a single county!

While much of California grows top-quality Zinfandel grapes, Sonoma County enjoys a special climate for growing Zinfandels. The cool breezes of the morning and evening allow the grapes to ripen slowly and retain much of their acidity. Brilliant sunny afternoons enable the grapes to attain peak flavor, aroma, and sugar. This ideal climate helps to create the optimum quality and balance of the grape's components.
