A Tradition of Service

October 7, 2013 | News & Press Releases

In October Hy-Vee honors its long-serving helpful smiles at annual Service Award Dinners across the company’s eight-state operating territory.

The award dinners, the first of which was hosted in 1964, are one of Hy-Vee’s longest standing traditions. They recognize employees who have worked for Hy-Vee in five year increments. This year more than 2,460 employees totaling more than 32,000 years of service, will be honored.

“Career achievements are very important in our company, and we are delighted to honor our tenured employees’ contributions to Hy-Vee’s long-standing success,” says Hy-Vee CEO Randy Edeker. “If it weren’t for the helpful smiles, there would be no success story to tell.”

The eight Service Award dinners will take place on:

  • October 7 in Rochester, MN
  • October 8 in Coralville, IA
  • October 9 in Moline, IL
  • October 14 in Sioux Falls, SD
  • October 15 in Omaha, NE
  • October 16 in Overland Park, KS
  • October 21 Des Moines, IA
  • October 22 Des Moines, IA

This year, Hy-Vee will recognize 49 employees who have been with the company for 40 years. Two other employees—Dennis Warrick, inventory manager at the Hy-Vee in Clarinda, IA; and John Littell, a member of the night stock crew at the East Euclid Hy-Vee in Des Moines, IA—will be honored for 45 years of service.

“Reaching a service milestone is something to be celebrated,” Edeker says. “We want these employees to know that their dedication to their customers and co-workers does not go unnoticed.”
