    5 tbsp. butter
    2 large baking apples, cored and sliced
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 tbsp. dark corn syrup
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    8 slice(s) (1-inch thick) French bread
    3 large eggs
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Directions

    1. Melt butter in skillet over medium heat. Add apples and saute until tender. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and cinnamon. Spread in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
    2. Arrange bread slices on top of apples.
    3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk and vanilla. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
    4. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 5 minutes in pan before inverting onto a serving platter. Spoon any apples and syrup left in the pan on top of French toast. Serve immediately.
