Apple-Cinnamon French Toast

2 large baking apples, cored and sliced | ||
1 c. brown sugar | ||
2 tbsp. dark corn syrup | ||
1 tsp. cinnamon | ||
8 slice(s) (1-inch thick) French bread | ||
3 large eggs | ||
1 c. milk | ||
1 tsp. vanilla |
Directions
- Melt butter in skillet over medium heat. Add apples and saute until tender. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and cinnamon. Spread in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange bread slices on top of apples.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk and vanilla. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 5 minutes in pan before inverting onto a serving platter. Spoon any apples and syrup left in the pan on top of French toast. Serve immediately.
