3 ½ lbs. flat beef brisket | ||
4 or 5 slices onion | ||
1 c. ketchup | ||
2 c. water | ||
3 dash(es) Tabasco sauce | ||
1 tsp. chili powder | ||
⅓ c. Worcestershire sauce | ||
1 tsp. salt | ||
water, if necessary |
Directions
- Place brisket in roasting pan. Top with onion slices. Bake uncovered at 400 degrees.
- Meanwhile, bring ketchup, water, Tabasco sauce, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan.
- Reduce oven heat to 325 degrees. Pour sauce over brisket.
- Cover pan and bake until tender at 325 degrees, about 4 hours.
- Baste brisket with sauce every 30 minutes.
- Add water if desired for desired thickness.
- Let cool 15 minutes. Slice across grain of meat to serve.
