1 c. flour | ||
1 tsp. baking powder | ||
2 tbsp. butter | ||
½ c. milk | ||
½ c. chopped nuts | ||
whipped cream or ice cream |
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- In a heavy skillet, melt 3/4 cup sugar, stirring constantly until amber colored. Turn off heat. Stir until thickened and slightly cooled.
- Slowly stir in water. Stir in 3/4 cup sugar, salt and vanilla. Pour into an 8-inch-square baking dish.
- Whisk together flour, 1/2 cup sugar and baking powder. Cut in butter until incorporated. Stir in milk and chopped nuts until just combined. Drop into syrup mixture.
- Bake for 20 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
