    1 lbs. lean ground beef
    ½ c. chopped onion
    1 jalapeno pepper, seeded, minced
    1 tsp. packed Hy-Vee brown sugar
    1 tsp. Hy-Vee chili powder
    ¼ tsp. ground chipotle chile powder
    4 (15 oz) can Hy-Vee tomato sauce
    4 whole wheat hamburger buns, cut in half horizontally, toasted

    Directions

    1. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef, stir to break up. Add onion, jalapeno pepper, brown sugar, chili powder and chipotle chile powder.
    2. When beef is browned and onions are soft, stir in tomato sauce. Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer until thickened, about 8 minutes.
    3. Top the bottom half of each bun with chili joe mixture. Cover with top half of each bun.
