Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Jar

1 ¼ c. uncooked quick oats | ||
½ c. granulated sugar | ||
¾ c. packed browned sugar | ||
½ c. pecan pieces | ||
½ c. milk chocolate baking chips | ||
½ c. butter | ||
1 large egg | ||
½ tsp. vanilla |
Directions
- Attach a gift label to the front and an instruction label to the back of the jar. The instructions should read as follows: Stir together 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 egg and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Stir in the entire contents of the jar. Drop dough by teaspoons onto a baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 3 dozen.
- In a bowl mix together the flour, baking powder and baking soda; pour into a 1-quart jar. Layer oats, granulated sugar, brown sugar, pecans, and baking chips on flour mixture. Press each layer firmly in place before adding the next.
- Place the lid and ring on the jar. Cover the top with a 5-inch paper circle (use spray or hot glue to adhere the paper to the lid) or a 5-inch sticker and finger pleat the paper around the edges. Tie with ribbon.
