Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies

Description
Loaded with gooey chocolate chip goodness, the ultimate cookie is chewy with a soft center. Walnuts add a nutty flavor and a delightful crunch.

1 tsp. Hy-Vee baking soda | ||
½ tsp. Hy-Vee salt | ||
¾ c. Hy-Vee butter, softened | ||
¼ c. Hy-Vee vegetable shortening | ||
¾ c. packed Hy-Vee brown sugar | ||
2 Hy-Vee large eggs | ||
1 tbsp. Hy-Vee vanilla extract | ||
1 (12 oz) pkg. Hy-Vee semisweet chocolate chips | ||
1 c. Hy-Vee chopped walnuts |
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Stir together flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl; set aside.
- Beat butter and shortening in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar. Beat on medium for 2 minutes, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much flour mixture as you can with mixer. Stir in any remaining flour mixture; add chocolate chips and nuts.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are light brown. Cool cookies on a wire rack.
