1 ¼ c. Hy-Vee milk | ||
2 Hy-Vee large egg yolks | ||
1 tbsp. Hy-Vee butter | ||
1 tsp. Hy-Vee vanilla extract | ||
1 medium banana, sliced | ||
vanilla wafers, optional |

Directions
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt. Stir in milk until combined. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until thickened and bubbly; reduce heat. Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat.
- Lightly beat egg yolks with a fork. Gradually stir about 3/4 cup of the hot mixture into egg yolks. Add to saucepan.
- Bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat.
Stir in butter and vanilla. Pour into a bowl; cool slightly. Cover surface with plastic wrap. Chill at least 2 hours. Stir in chopped banana slices. Top with vanilla wafers, if desired.
