Jalapeno Pepper Jack Burgers

If you love spice, this is the burger for you! The combination of pepper jack cheese and fresh jalapenos spices up this classic burger.

1 lbs. lean ground beef | ||
3 Hy-Vee Bakery Fresh sesame buns, split | ||
6 Hy-Vee pepper jack cheese slices | ||
1 medium white onion, sliced and sauteed | ||
1 jalapeno, thinly sliced | ||
1 small red bell pepper, sliced | ||
1 tsp. dried cilantro |
Directions
- Lightly grease grill rack. Prepare a charcoal or gas grill for direct cooking over medium heat.
- Divide ground beef into thirds and form into patties. Make a slight indentation in center of each burger for even cooking.
- Grill buns, if desired.
- Grill burger patties, flipping once, to an internal temperature of 160 degrees. Cooking time will depend on thickness of burger. Two minutes before removing patties from grill, top each with 2 slices of pepper jack cheese.
- To assemble burgers, top each bottom bun with sautéed onions, burger patty with cheese, jalapeno, pepper, cilantro and top bun.
