Hyvee Culinary Expert Tip
If you do not own a 2-inch metal ring, such as a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter, you can make your own. Cut out a large piece of aluminum foil and fold leaving a thick wall. Form a 2-inch ring and fold the sides on top of one another. Make sure the top and bottoms of the rings are flat and spray the inside with nonstick cooking spray before using.Wipe out skillet and spray with nonstick cooking spray; heat over medium heat. Add beaten egg and season with salt and pepper. Cook over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until set. Remove egg from skillet. Cut in half and fold each portion in half. Heat sausage patties according to package directions and top with cheese slices.
To assemble, place a sausage patty, cheese side down, on griddle cake. Top with egg portion and another griddle cake. Drizzle with additional syrup, if desired. Serve immediately.
