Oreo Cookie Cake

1 lbs. Oreo cookies | ||
1 c. margarine, melted | ||
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened | ||
1 c. powdered sugar | ||
1 (16 oz) container Cool Whip, thawed | ||
1 large pkg instant chocolate pudding, plus ingredients called for on package | ||
maraschino cherries, optional |
Directions
- Crush Oreo cookies. Reserve 1/2 cup of crumbs. Mix remaining crumbs with melted margarine. Press into bottom of 9-by-13-inch cake pan. Refrigerate 1 hour.
- Beat together cream cheese and powdered sugar. Fold in half the Cool Whip. Spread over cookie layer and refrigerate 1 hour.
- Prepare pudding according to package directions. Spread over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate 1 hour.
- Spread remaining Cool Whip over pudding layer. Sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs.
- Garnish with maraschino cherries, if desired.
