Oven-Roasted Squash with Bacon and Brown Sugar

2 medium acorn squash, halved and seeded | ||

8 tbsp. packed Hy-Vee brown sugar | ||
4 slice(s) uncooked Hy-Vee applewood-smoked bacon, chopped | ||
Hy-Vee black pepper, to taste |
Directions
- Place squash halves cut-side-up in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Carefully score flesh with a sharp knife. Pour water into baking dish.
- Sprinkle each squash half with 2 tablespoons brown sugar and chopped bacon.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until squash is very soft. Season to taste with pepper.
