French Toast
8 slice(s) Udi's multigrain gluten-free sandwich bread
4 oz. Hy-Vee plain cream cheese
½ c. fresh strawberries, sliced
1 Hy-Vee large egg
¼ c. Hy-Vee 2% reduced-fat milk

Directions

  1. Make Strawberry Chia Syrup: Place strawberries, sugar, and chia seeds in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat until sauce thickens, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. 

  2. Make French Toast: Spread cream cheese evenly on each slice of bread. Place strawberries on top of four slices and top with remaining bread. 

  3. Spray a 12-inch skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium-low heat. Whisk together egg and milk in a shallow dish. 

  4. Dip sandwiches into the egg mixture. Place sandwiches in skillet and cook 1 to 2 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Serve with Strawberry Chia Syrup.
