Strawberry-Stuffed French Toast

⅓ c. Hy-Vee strawberry cream cheese spread | ||
¼ c. sliced strawberries | ||
2 tbsp. Hy-Vee powdered sugar | ||
8 slice(s) Hy-Vee Texas toast | ||
3 Hy-Vee large eggs | ||
¼ c. Hy-Vee skim milk | ||
½ tsp. Hy-Vee cinnamon | ||
Hy-Vee whipped topping, optional |
Directions
- In a small bowl, blend cream cheese, strawberries and powdered sugar until smooth.
- With a sharp serrated knife, carefully cut a slit in each bread slice to form a pocket. Fill each with about 1 tablespoon cream cheese mixture.
- In a shallow pan, beat together eggs, milk and cinnamon. Coat stuffed bread slices in egg mixture.
- Warm a greased, large skillet over medium-high heat. Place stuffed bread in skillet and cook until lightly browned on each side. Serve with whipped topping, if desired.
