    ½ oz. Bacardi Reserva, Ocho, aged 8 years
    Drink
    Hot water
    1 oz. Bacardi Reserva, Ocho, aged 8 years
    1 oz. Hennessy VS cognac
    2 oz. Tom and Jerry Batter
    2 oz. Hy-Vee milk, hot (115°F to 120°F)
    Hy-Vee ground nutmeg, for garnish

    • 6 oz. mug

    Directions

    1. For Tom and Jerry Batter, beat egg whites and crème of tartar in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed about 1 minute or until soft peaks form (tips curl); set aside.

    2. Whisk together egg yolks and granulated sugar in a large bowl until thoroughly combined. Add vanilla and rum, mix until combined, with a spatula, gently fold in egg white mixture; cover and keep refrigerated until ready.

       

    3. For drink, bring water to a boil in an electric tea kettle or saucepan. Add boiling water to a 6-oz. mug until mug is warmed; discard water.

       

    4. For each serving, stir together 2-oz. prepared Tom and Jerry batter, rum and cognac in warmed mug. Top with hot milk. Garnish with nutmeg, if desired.
