How to Properly Prep and Cut Melon
Primary Media
Description
Melons are perfect for simple snacking or making fresh recipes like fruit salad. Learn how to properly prep melons so you can make the most out of this delicious fruit and reduce your amount of food waste.
For all melons, creating a flat base allows for better knife control when removing the tough skin and more edible fruit for slicing or chopping. Our how-to below shows how to properly cut a cantaloupe, but this technique can be used for watermelon and honeydew, too.
Directions
Cut down the sides of the melon, angling the knife to follow the curve of the fruit.
Slice peeled melon in half through the center.
Use a spoon to scrape the seeds out of the center of the melon. Slice or cube, as desired.
