Dress it up? Or mix it up? We chose the latter. Find your new favorite flavor combo to create flavorful mashed potatoes perfect for any special occasion or holiday. Our directions are simple, just make your mashed potatoes the way you normally do, or order Hy-Vee Kitchen mashed potatoes, then add a few special ingredients. Don't worry: The amounts and ingredients are listed below!
Veggie Sour Cream
Stir 1/2 cup Hy-Vee vegetable party sour cream dip into 1 (36-oz.) container Hy-Vee Kitchen mashed potatoes. Heat in microwave on HIGH until hot, stirring once every minute. Garnish with thinly sliced green onion, if desired. Serves 8 (about 1/2 cup each).
Pesto
Stir in 1/4 c. purchased pesto, such as Hy-Vee exclusive Gustare Vita pesto, into prepared mashed potatoes. If desired, stir in Hy-Vee shredded Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
Truffle Oil
Stir 1 tablespoon black truffle-infused extra-virgin olive oil into 1 (36-oz.) container Hy-Vee Kitchen mashed potatoes. Heat in microwave on HIGH until hot, stirring once every minute. Garnish with fresh chives, if desired. Serves 8 (about 1/2 cup each).
Onion and Sage
Melt 2 tablespoons Hy-Vee unsalted butter in a medium skillet. Add 1 chopped white onion and saute until softened, about 5 to 7 minutes. Stir in 12 fresh sage leaves and saute until crispy, about 1 to 3 minutes. Remove mixture from heat and stir into mashed potatoes.
Parmesan-Rosemary Fix-Up
Stir 1 cup Hy-Vee shredded Parmesan cheese and 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary into 1 (36-oz.) container Hy-Vee Kitchen mashed potatoes. Microwave on HIGH until hot, stirring once every minute. Serves 8 (about 1/2 cup each).
Cheesy Chipotle
Mix in 1/2 cup shredded Gouda cheese and 2 tablespoons finely chopped chipotle peppers in adobo sauce for a cheesy and smoky specialty mashed potato.
