Things To Grab
- Large baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Medium bowl
- Whisk
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a rimmed baking pan with parchment paper.
Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface into a 14x8 inch rectangle. Spread cherry pie filling along center third of rectangle.
On each long side, cut 3/4-to-1-inch-wide strips being careful not to cut into the cherry pie filling. Starting at one end, fold alternating strips at an angle across filling; seal ends and tuck under loaf. Transfer to prepared pan and adjust braid to form candy cane shape.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden. Cool. Meanwhile, combine powdered sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl. If desired, thin with a small amount of hot water. Drizzle or pipe glaze over candy cane and garnish with maraschino cherries, if desired.
