Description
A Monte Cristo is a French fried ham and cheese sandwich with fruit preserves. To make this for a crowd, we transformed the sandwich into a casserole packed with ham, Swiss cheese, berries, and Hy-Vee Bakery croissants.

Directions
Add croissants, ham, and half of the Swiss cheese to egg mixture in baking dish; toss to combine. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours. Just before baking, top with berries and remaining portion of cheese.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until cheese is melted and casserole reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly on a wire cooling rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup, if desired.
