Hy-Vee Partners with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to Host a Weekly Community Vaccination Clinic for Area Residents, Starting Monday, March 15

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (March 11, 2021) — Hy-Vee, Inc. announces today that it is partnering with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) in Kansas City, Missouri, to host a weekly community COVID-19 vaccination clinic for Kansas City’s 18th & Vine District residents.
The first clinic begins Monday, March 15 and will be held every Monday following until further notice. The weekly clinics will be held at the NLBM located at 1616 E. 18th Street in Kansas City.
Vaccinations will be available by appointment only. NLBM will work with local community partners around the district to share information about how local residents can sign up for an appointment. The clinic is intended to serve underserved residents in the community.
Vaccines will be available to individuals included within Missouri’s Phase 1B, Tier 2 and — starting Monday, March 15 — Phase 1B, Tier 3. Those tiers include:
• Pre-K through 12 teachers and staff, staff at childcare centers, family childcare providers, and Head Start and Early Head Start staff members
• Individuals 65 years of age and older
• Adults with cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD, heart conditions, weakened immune system due to organ transplant, severe obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, or individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities such as Down syndrome.
• Critical infrastructure workers in the following industries:
o Communications
o Dams sector
o Energy sector
o Food and agriculture sector
o Government
o Information technology and more
At the March 15 clinic, nearly 650 individuals are expected to be vaccinated. The total number of vaccination appointments available each week will vary depending on vaccine supply. Recipients of the vaccine will receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Individuals will be scheduled for a second dose appointment approximately 21 days after their first dose appointment.
