WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Nov. 9, 2021) — Hy-Vee, Inc. recently received three top technology awards from the Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) during its annual Prometheus Awards ceremony. Hy-Vee was recognized in the following categories: CEO of the Year, Creative Technology Solution of the Year and Software Development Technology Company of the Year.

The most prestigious recognition for Iowa’s technology industry, the Prometheus Awards recognizes individuals and companies impacting Iowa’s nearly $11 billion technology industry.

This year, Hy-Vee Chairman, CEO and President Randy Edeker was awarded the CEO of the Year award for his influential leadership and innovation throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Edeker’s leadership, Hy-Vee deployed enhancements to its Aisles Online grocery ordering service, developed a digital COVID-19 vaccination scheduler, launched virtual dietitian services, introduced Hy-Vee Scan & Go mobile payment and more to help make customers’ lives easier and safer during the pandemic. Led by Edeker, Hy-Vee also unveiled new benefits to its more than 91,000 employees and was voted the No. 2 best grocer in the U.S. and the No. 1 best grocer in the Midwest, according to USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

Additionally, Hy-Vee received the Creative Technology Solution of the Year award, which celebrates the ingenuity and use of technology in a creative way for enterprise solutions. Hy-Vee’s award-winning solution, its digital COVID-19 vaccination scheduler, offers patients a quick, easy and efficient way to schedule COVID-19 vaccination appointments. It was also integral in helping Hy-Vee become an early COVID-19 vaccine provider through the Federal Retail Pharmacy program, which has allowed Hy-Vee to administer more than 2 million COVID-19 vaccinations across its eight-state region.

Hy-Vee also took home the Software Development Technology Company of the Year award, which recognizes innovation in software development or applications to solve business challenges, guide decisions, or enhance productivity and efficiency. Hy-Vee’s cutting-edge technology solutions included enhancements to its Aisles Online grocery ordering service, including adding a grocery payment option for SNAP/EBT customers, adjusting its timeslot strategy to allow for more online grocery orders and deploying a new order fulfillment software to streamline order fulfillment.

“Technology is paving the path forward at Hy-Vee and is intertwined in every aspect of our operations,” said Casey Decker, executive vice president and president of digital media for Hy-Vee. “Over the past several years, we have heavily focused on attracting the best tech employees to our company so we can continue to provide creative solutions that will make our customers’ lives easier, healthier and happier — both during a pandemic — and beyond. Our investment in top talent has kept our company at the forefront of digital innovation, and these awards certainly reiterate the importance of the work we are doing.”
