Ronald D. Pearson Citizenship Program

The Ronald D. Pearson Citizenship Program encourages employees to take their helpful smiles out of the store or office and into their neighborhoods in order to build stronger, more vital communities where we live and work.

Hy-Vee’s success is grounded in the principle of always doing the right thing when it comes to our customers, our employees, our vendors and our communities. That business model was established in 1930 by our founders and has been carried forward by every subsequent leader. It is why we are one of the most respected supermarket companies in the industry.

During his tenure, former CEO Ron Pearson established the Hy-Vee Fundamentals to help employees grow both personally and professionally. It is after him that the Ronald D. Pearson Citizenship Program gets its name. The fundamentals’ principal values—Helpful, Friendly, Honest, Respectful and Dedicated—are at the heart of this program and they will help you earn this award.

Ron believed that every employee is capable of becoming a leader who can accomplish great things both inside and outside the store. Participants in the program no doubt grow as leaders as they move through the 250 hours of community service we're encouraging. We'll acknowledge participants at 75, 150, and finally 250 hours of service within their communities.

Small contributions of time and talent can make a big difference in your community.
