    Things To Grab

    • Large skillet
    • Wooden spoon
    • Small bowl
    • Fork
    • 2 baking sheets
    • Hy-Vee canola oil cooking spray
    • Small cup
    • Pastry brush

    Directions

    1. Heat 1 Tbsp. olive oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add onions; cook for 6 to 8 minutes or until softened, stirring often. Stir in parsley. Set aside to cool.

    2. Place oven racks in the upper and lower third of the oven; preheat oven to 400 degrees. Beat together egg and water in a small bowl with a fork until frothy; set aside.

    3. Spray 2 baking sheets with cooking spray. Unroll 1 pizza crust and press dough into a 12 x 8-inch rectangle on 1 prepared baking sheet.

    4. Stir together remaining 6 Tbsp. olive oil, garlic, salt, crushed red pepper and black pepper in a small cup. Brush about 2 Tbsp. oil mixture on dough to within 2 in. of long sides and 1 in. of short sides. Top with half each of capicola, pepperoni, onion mixture, mozzarella and provolone.

    5. Brush edges of dough with egg wash mixture. Fold long sides of dough up over filling; press edges of dough to seal seam. Pinch ends to seal. Gently roll stromboli so that seam is on the bottom. Tuck ends under slightly. Repeat to making another stomboli on the other prepared baking sheet with remaining pizza crust dough and meats, onion mixture and cheeses.

    6. Brush tops of the strombolis with remaining oil mixture. Cut 3 diagonal slits across the top of each stromboli, about 2 in. apart.

    7. Bake for 17 to 22 minutes or until golden brown, switching baking sheets on oven racks halfway through. Coolfor 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with pasta sauce.
