    ½ c. Hy-Vee butter, softened
    ½ c. Hy-Vee unsweetened applesauce
    ½ c. Hy-Vee sugar
    1 Hy-Vee large egg
    1 tsp. Hy-Vee vanilla
    2 ½ c. Hy-Vee flour
    ½ tsp. Hy-Vee salt
    14 tsp. fruit spread

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. Cream butter, applesauce and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Beat in flour and salt. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 1 inch apart on baking sheets. Press thumb in center of each cookie to make a small well.
    3. Bake 14 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely. When cookies are cool, fill each indentation with 1/2 teaspoon fruit spread.
