2 large eggs, separated | ||
1 tsp. vanilla | ||
2 c. flour | ||
½ tsp. salt | ||
finely chopped walnuts | ||

Directions
- Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and vanilla. Combine flour and salt, and add to creamed mixture.
- Form dough into walnut-sized balls. Dip in slightly beaten egg whites. Roll in chopped walnuts. Place 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes.
- Remove from oven. Press thumb in center of each cookie.
- Return cookie sheet to oven and bake 8 more minutes.
- Remove cookies to wire rack to cool.
- When cool, fill indentation in each cookie with colored frosting.
