1 c. shortening | ||
2 c. sugar | ||
3 large eggs | ||
1 tsp. vanilla | ||
3 ½ c. flour | ||
1 tsp. baking soda | ||
1 tsp. baking powder | ||
1 tsp. salt | ||
1 ½ tsp. cinnamon | ||
¼ tsp. ground allspice | ||
¼ tsp. nutmeg | ||
1 c. chopped walnuts | ||

Directions
- Combine raisins and water in a saucepan. Cover and simmer 5 minutes. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup raisin liquid.
- Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, reserved 1/2 cup raisin liquid and vanilla. Beat well.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture. Stir in raisins and nuts.
- Drop from teaspoon about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Remove cookies to wire rack to cool.
- Frost while warm.
