1 c. shortening | ||
½ c. margarine, softened | ||
2 ¼ c. granulated sugar, divided | ||
2 large eggs | ||
½ c. mild molasses | ||
4 c. flour | ||
2 tsp. baking soda | ||
2 tsp. cinnamon | ||
2 tsp. ground cloves | ||
2 tsp. ginger |
Directions
- Cream shortening, margarine, 2 cups sugar, eggs and molasses.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and ginger.
- Blend flour mixture with creamed mixture for 2 minutes with an electric mixer set on medium speed.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Dip tops in remaining 1/4 cup sugar before placing on baking sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Cookies will look crinkled and sparkle when done.
- Remove to wire racks to cool.
