    6 medium green peppers
    1 lbs. Italian sausage, uncooked
    ½ c. chopped onion
    3 clove(s) garlic, finely chopped
    1 (8 oz) can Hy-Vee tomato sauce
    1 (4 oz) can Hy-Vee pieces and stems mushrooms, drained
    2 c. Hy-Vee shredded mozzarella cheese

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. Cut off tops of green peppers; remove seeds and membrane. Set aside.
    3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown sausage, onion and garlic. Drain. Mix in tomato sauce and mushrooms.
    4. Fill each pepper with about 1/2 cup sausage mixture. Place into an 11-by-7-inch baking dish. Top each pepper with 1/3 cup shredded cheese.
    5. Bake uncovered for 45 to 50 minutes or until filling reaches 160 degrees.
